Lions of Sands as of November 2025:
In the North, the Ndzhenga males have finally brought stability to the Nkuhuma pride, who’ve been without any dominant males since 2023, when the Avoca males were still around. Since the takeover, the Ndzhengas have sired a few cubs with the Nkuhumas, solidifying a stable future for the pride. The Kambula males were also around northern Sabi Sand, after the Mantimahle males and the Imbali pride, the 2 old Mantimahles wisely decided to move away with their pride to avoid conflict. The Kambulas however, have been stopped in their tracks as one of the members has unfortunately died of anthrax.
With the Ndzhengas absent central Sabi Sand has new rulers, the strong Gijima males, who have been asserting their dominance over the Kambula pride, killing multiple subadults, we can only hope that the rest of the youngsters stay away from danger.
In the west, the Nkuhuma and Talamati male coalition has been spending time with the Mhangeni pride, but there are no signs of a takeover just yet. The Plains camp males still remain the dominant force in the west, with no signs of slowing down, this means that the Nkuhuma, Talamati coalition can’t safely take over the Mhangeni pride.
In the south, the Nkuhlus are living a relatively peaceful life, staying within their territory and with their Sand river pride. In the area abandoned by the Gijimas, the young Nwaswishaka coalition is wandering around, and might take over in the near future.
The legendary Mohawk Avoca is going strong with his 2 sons, they are all in peak condition and are absolutely dominant over 2 prides.
Tribute to the Mbiri coalition:
R.I.P. to 2 absolute legends, these males conquered, sired and ruled Ngala and Orpen with an iron paw for many years and although they are gone, their legacy lives on, and we can see that through the Mayanbula males, who are following in their fathers’ footsteps.
